Fellowes Announces Enhanced Shredding Solutions to Help Fight ID Theft
Category leader unveils new, innovative features and continues to provide
superior shredding solutions to protect against identity fraud.
January 6, 2005/Itasca, Ill. - Fellowes, Inc., the leading manufacturer of
paper shredders, just launched a new line of superior shredding solutions for
the home, home office and/or small office environments, designed to improve
ease of use and safe handling, while providing additional storage space.
Proper disposal of personal documents is also essential for preventing identity
theft, the nation's fastest growing crime. According to the National Crime
Prevention Council, a paper shredder is an invaluable tool for ensuring
personal records don't end up in the wrong hands.
"Five years ago, shredders were used primarily by businesses, but today, paper
shredders have become as commonplace as personal computers in the home office,"
said John Fellowes, shredder marketing manager for Fellowes, Inc. "It's
Fellowes' goal to continue to offer innovative shredding solutions that
anticipate consumer needs." The new line of Fellowes shredders feature the
following enhanced capabilities:
-
Higher Level of Safety - Most machines are equipped with a Safety Lockout
Function, which provides consumers with peace of mind when the machine is not
in use. Machines that destroy credit cards and compact discs now feature a
Separate Entry Flap to prevent small particles from coming out of the shredder.
-
Superior Design - A Waste Opening is featured on some machines for home office
use, eliminating the need for a separate waste bin. Other shredders are
designed with the paper entry angled toward the user, which leaves the top of
the shredder free for paper or general storage. All shredders feature designs
that allow the user to empty the shedder more easily to minimize paper mess.
-
Ease of Use - Machines designed for home environments now feature a
Pivoting/Rotating Head and Single Handle to simplify emptying the waste bin.
Shredders for small office use feature a Pull-Out Bin with a Clear Window,
which allows the user to see when the basket is full for a more convenient
emptying process.
Home office and small office shredders in the new line also include LED
Indicator Lights to help the user identify problems quickly. All of the new
shredders are equipped with a Sheet Capacity Selector, so users can quickly
measure the appropriate amount of sheets the shredder can shred at once, thus
minimizing jams. The new line of shredding solutions from Fellowes will be on
display at booth #9145 in Central Hall at the International Consumer
Electronics Show, January 6-9, 2005 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las
Vegas, Nevada.
