Not fit for purpose
I bought this shredder from John Lewis and returned it within 3 weeks (bin emptied twice) as it failed to start - for some reason it would operate in reverse. I followed all the obvious fault-finding advice but no success. I exchanged the shredder for another example of the same model and bought some lubricating oil. This example lasted the same time ie after 2 weeks and the bin emptied 3 times despite lubrication. I am taking the shredder back to John Lewis this morning and asking for my money back.

Disappointed
It is unrealistic to require users to lubricate the cutting mechanism every 7 sheets especially when there are multi users in a household. This has led to a cut out in the forward direction (reverse works) and rendered the shredder useless. To make matters worse there are no instructions or user manual on-line to enable a user to gain access to the motor or paper sensor to attempt any maintenance.

OK But.....
This shredder does what it says on the tin; however as with many similar shredders the bin is not big enough and it fills up really quickly. It could do with being at least twice as tall. In addition it is capable of filling up packed so tightly that it becomes almost impossible to open the drawer to empty it, with the resultant mess that always ensues.
Ok for occasional use but if you shred a lot a more commercial version will be needed.
