Fellowes, Inc. Introduces New Intellishred Series, the First-Ever 100 Percent Jam Proof Shredders

Itasca, Ill. (February 20, 2008) – From cross-cut capabilities to advanced safety features, the shredder category has continued to evolve in order to address consumer demand and usage requirements. Today, Fellowes, Inc., the leading shredder manufacturer and inventor of the personal shredder, will transform the category once more by eliminating consumers’ number one shredder complaint – paper jams. Just in time for tax season, Fellowes is launching the Intellishred™ Series, a new generation of 100 percent jam proof shredders.

Introducing Intellishred
The new series (PS-79Ci, SB-89Ci and SB-99Ci) is uniquely designed to address personal deskside and shared use shredding needs in the home, home office or business setting. The shredders eliminate jams and prevent overloads by instantly calculating the amount of paper being fed into the machine.

The proprietary Intellishred technology features a sophisticated sensor that measures the thickness of a paper stack and automatically stops a paper jam before it occurs. Similar to a traffic light which lets a driver know when they can proceed, an indicator light lets the user know when they are nearing sheet capacity. A green to yellow light indicates the user is within paper capacity.

A red light signifies the shredder has been overfed and the machine will automatically stop, letting the user remove excess paper before the shredder resumes. The Intellishred Series also detects when paper has been mis-fed or fast-fed into the shredder by turbo-powering through the job or reversing the paper out for easy removal.

In addition to its jam-free capabilities, the machines also have a patented SafeSense™ technology, which automatically disables the shredders when sensing hands or large pets are too close to the paper opening, and SilentShred™ technology, which features a whisper quiet motor that alleviates common shredder noise concerns.

The PS-79Ci, SB-89Ci and SB-99Ci have high security cross-cut capabilities, ensuring confidential information is destroyed into unidentifiable pieces. The machines handle from 12 to 17 sheets of paper per pass and can shred CDs/DVDs, credit cards, staples and paper clips in a matter of seconds. The shredders also have easy-to-empty pull out bins, making waste disposal easier.
