SURPRISINGLY LOUD I purchased this shredder to replace a Royal SC120. So far, the operation of the shredder has been completely satisfactory. The "pull out" waste can tends to be messy sometimes, but it is the same with all shredders of this design. I would rather deal with the mess than lift the shredding mechanism off and having to place is safely somewhere while emptying a traditional waste can. I am a bit surprised with how much louder this shredder is than my previous one. I am HOPING it is louder because it has a more powerful and durable motor. But, all in all, so far so good. I haven't had any issues. March 26, 2013
Second Generation I have had Fellowes shredders for many years. Recently one of them had a screw come loose in the gear box and broke a tooth off a plastic gear. I now had one shredder, so I decided I would get another one to replace the broken one a DM8C model. I selected the PS-12C. it was much more powerful than my old one but twice as loud. I called support and they sent a new one which was not quite as loud but still louder than my old machine. I shred a lot of paper and the 12C handled it much better than my old one, albeit much louder. I oil the blades each time I empty the basket. The basket can cause a big mess if you don't watch it and empty it often. I really like the looks of the new machine and the safety features. January 18, 2013
WROST THING EVER! no way. you cant even put the lock button on unlock so you cant put the thing on. It took us about a week. When we did it we had to clean a big mess everywhere. Paper would fly out. Its really annoying. Its not just me I have read other peoples reviews and the same thing. Plus it looks way worse than the picture on the box. We returned it. I told my friends about it they said it was the WORST thing ever. It doesnt even take much papers. It cant even take a bag. When we had it sometimes it would somehow reverse the paper out. It also just stops working. The one I bought before was way better. It would just take the paper and done. This one you can not even unlock it. The manual doesnt say anything about unlocking it. It is very anoying and extremly hard to work with.Even if you just rip a paper up and throw on the ground it would be better than the MESS it makes.AND, yes an and, it is extremly loud. You can put it on the top floor and close the door in that room and go all the way to the basement and shut that door too you can still hear it. It sounds louder than the loudest screem in the WORLD.Not recomended October 20, 2012
