PROJECT BACKGROUND

As part of its move to a new 130,000 sq ft, seven-floor Manchester headquarters, Autotrader set out to create a modern, flexible workspace designed around collaboration, hot desking, and employee wellbeing.

A key element of the project was the rollout of approximately 1,200 monitor arms. The business needed a solution that would enhance the overall office aesthetic while delivering consistent, high-performance functionality across every workspace. Fellowes Rising™ Monitor Arms were selected to meet this requirement.

BALANCING DESIGN AND PRACTICALITY

From the outset, the monitor arms needed to reflect the modern look and feel of the new office. Rising™ was chosen for its clean, contemporary design, which complements the desks, monitors, and wider colour scheme.

Just as importantly, it supports a streamlined workspace. Standardised desk setups combined with integrated cable management help maintain a tidy, uncluttered environment—an essential feature in a hot desking setting where clarity and simplicity improve the overall experience.

BUILT FOR FLEXIBLE WORKING

Flexibility was central to Autotrader’s vision. With employees able to work from any desk, the solution needed to adapt quickly to different users and working styles.

Rising™ Monitor Arms enable:

  • Easy repositioning to support collaboration, particularly for pair working
  • Seamless integration with sit-stand desks, maintaining ergonomic positioning at any height

This ensures employees can quickly create a comfortable and productive setup, wherever they choose to work.

Rolling out across seven floors required a consistent approach to both design and usability. By standardising on the Rising™ Monitor Arm, Autotrader achieved:

  • A uniform look and feel across all workspaces
  • Equal ergonomic support for every employee
  • Compatibility with larger 32” monitors across the estate

EFFICIENT INSTALLATION AND DELIVERY

With tight timelines and a large volume of desks, speed and simplicity of installation were critical. Rising™ supported efficient delivery through its top-mount design and SnapKinect™ feature, significantly reducing installation time.

The addition of a bolt-through clamp option also meant the same monitor arm could be used across a variety of desk types and non-standard installations, simplifying the overall rollout.
